Winter weather is fast approaching! SV learners have two recess breaks daily. We strive to take each of these breaks outside, however, it is not always possible with weather.
All WASD elementary buildings will go outside for recess when “real feel” temperatures are above 25 degrees F. When “real feel” temperatures fall below 25 degree Fahrenheit, recess breaks will be moved indoors. Please make sure your child comes to school prepared to be outside with a winter coat, hat, gloves, and scarf.
Friday is the last day we will accept registrations for Reading classroom visitations. Forms can be found here: https://5il.co/b6kl
WASD celebrated World Kindness Day today! Here are a few of our kindergarten learners sharing kindness with our office staff.
We are pleased to offer several spirit wear items that make great gifts for the holidays. Embroidery is available with the Summitview or WASD logo. Orders are due with payment (cash or check to SV PTO) on Thursday, 11/14. Print the order form here: https://5il.co/b8iw
Learners in kindergarten and first grader participated in Read for The Record today. Thanks to Lexi and the Nittany Lion for serving as special guest readers!
If any of these items look familiar, please have your learner pick them up and take them home!
Tomorrow is our annual Veteran's Day program which is held at WASHS. We will begin walking to the HS at 9:00 am. Learners late to school may need to remain at Summitview with office staff. This event is for Summitview learners, staff, and invited veterans and guests. For security purposes, all guests must be pre-registered in our school gate guardian system. Please contact Mrs. Ebersole in the office if you need to pre-register. We currently have over 130 guests attending. If you are able-bodied, we ask that you park at Summitivew and walk to WASHS. Parking will be available in the lower lot by the auditorium entrance and along Second Street. Our PTO will host an informal reception for guests, veterans, and their learner at the high school following the program. Learners will return to Summitview under the supervision of school staff after saying goodbye to their invited guest. On behalf of the staff and learners at Summitview, we thank all of the Veterans that are part of our school community for their service to our country. Thank you and have a good evening.
Learners in Mr. Lorusso's class recently went on a walk rock to find rocks for their museum. Learners observed properties such as luster, hardness, color, and texture as part of their science unit on Rocks and Minerals. Later this week, they will complete scratch test labs for to identify different minerals in rock samples!
We invite one member of each learner's family to observe reading instruction during the week of November 18. Letters were sent home on 11/5 and extra copies can be found at this link: https://5il.co/b6kl. Copies in Spanish can be found in the documents section of the SV website.
