Hello WASHS Famililies & Community, Today we had an unplanned evacuation of the building due to a fire alarm going off at approximately 9:18 am. Through coordinated efforts of the Waynesboro Fire Department and the WASD maintenance department we have confirmed that the fire alarm went off due to a malfunction in one of our fire detectors - there was no fire and no evidence that the alarm was intentionally set off.
We are proud of our learners and staff for promptly following the protocols that we practice each month. In spite of the cold weather we had everyone evacuated and accounted for in less than 15 minutes. We returned to the building at approximately 9:55 am and classes resumed at 10:00 am.

Ms. Zaruba's State & Local history classes continued their visits to local sites by visiting the Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library. Ms. Zaruba thanks Terri Scott who provided an "incredible" experience for students! Ms. Scott provided a history lesson and then the tour of the library. Learners absolutely loved exploring the original house, including the doorbell, the many fireplaces and old cupboards and the height of the ceilings/doorways. Their favorite part of the tour was the basement where Terri revealed a secret room used for the Underground Railroad. A great big thank you for her time and support!

Happy Thanksgiving from our Culinary Arts classes who recently prepared and enjoyed their favorite holiday dishes!

In honor of Veteran's Day, members of the Class of 2025 completed a service project to raise money for Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
