Our first day of school is off to a great start! Don't forget, the fabulous Mrs. Angels is ready to serve free breakfast by the b-level office every morning as students enter!

On Thursday, our middle school and high school staff were wrapping up a great PD session about writing strategies when the fire alarm started to go off. Not a drill and no one pulled an alarm so out we went and within seconds the Waynesboro Fire Dept rolled in! Through their quick collaboration with our maintenance department,the problem was found to be a sensor (which will be replaced today, maintenance will be checking the rest as well). Thank you to the volunteers in our community who serve as firefighters and thank you for your quick response yesterday!

We are looking forward to having our students back in the building for Back to School night on Tuesday, 8/15 and then for the First Day of School on Wednesday, 8/23! We encourage students to snap a picture with Spirit Rock and share it with our admin team via the link in student's WASD email - pictures will be displayed on TVs in the building and a few will be included on our social media and our August newsletter! #WelcomedAtWASHS

Waynesboro Maidens Soccer had a successful youth soccer camp last week with 25 girls participating as well as over 10 high school players who assisted!

As part of our ongoing commitment to student and staff safety, the WASD Police Department, in conjunction with the Waynesboro Police Department, will be conducting security drills at WASHS on Friday, July 28, 2023. During this time our campus will be closed. Additional training with students and staff will be conducted during the first 60 days of the 23/24 school year.

Class of 2024 & 2025 - please check your WASD email for information about signing up to purchase a parking permit. This information was also sent to families via BoroBlast email.

Members of the football team recently attended the New Oxford lineman challenge. Congratulations to Nate and Kean who finished 2nd and 3rd (among 300+ participants!) for best times pushing a wooden sled called The Beast! Mark your calendars for our fall sports community night on Friday, August 18 and our football home opener versus Spring Grove on Friday, August 25!

End-of-Year Lost & Found Items from WASHS. If you see something that belongs to your child, please call the main office at 717-762-1191 x1206 as we do not monitor the replies to this thread on social media. Items not claimed, when possible, will be washed and donated to charity.

WASHS was proud to host athletes from across our district who participated in "WASHS Games" on May 26. We thank the 100+ high school helpers who served as mentors to their classmates!

Anisa placed 3rd in the state of Pennsylvania on May 23, 2023 with her animated short film entitled "The Lockwood Killer," starring many of her family and friends. This victory follows up Anisa's 1st place win from March at Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12. Great work and congratulations, Anisa!

Our Envirothon team didn't earn 1st place at the state level this week but they are winners to us - way to go!

The stairwell between the main entrance and c-level got a "glow up" today thanks to our Community Arts class and the help of Mr. Fogle, Jeff, and Corey of our maintenance department. This mural features lyrics of the WASHS Alma Mater!

Today our College & Career Readiness class participated in mock interviews conducted by members of our district and community. Pictured are: Brian Fisher, instructor, Dustin Kunkle (Walmart), Scott Robinson (Walmart), Corey Duesler (WASHS alumni, student representing Manitowoc), Holly Miller (WASHS alumin, representing Patriot Federal a credit Union ) and Dr. Rita Sterner-Hine superintendent of schools.

Shout out to these members of the Class of 2023 who got up extra early on their last day of school before grad practice to share in Senior Sunrise together! Can't wait to celebrate their accomplishments next Friday!
