We are thrilled to announce that True is off to the state track meet this weekend! She qualified in the 300 m hurdles with a 2nd place finish in a time of 46:46. Amazing run, True!!!

Members of NHS traveled to D.C. on Tuesday. They took a cruise down the Potomac River and then toured George Washington's Mount Vernon estate and gardens!
As part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and security of our learners and staff, Officer Gordon arranged for Officer Michelitsch of the PA State Police and his canine, Bobe (bo-Bee) completed a sweep of lockers at WASHS today. We are proud to share that no illegal substances were detected!
WASHS hosted our own Special Olympics for our K-12 learners - it was a beautiful day of fun and competition! Shout out to Mrs. Richardson from WASHS and Mr. Bosso from WAMS for their planning and preparation to make this event happen! We had over 90 Olympians that were each supported by a WASHS mentor.
PA Act 35 of 2018 calls for schools to annually administer a locally developed assessment of US History, Government, and Civics. Learners in our civics and honors civics classes recently completed this assessment. We are excited to share that 26 learners earned a perfect score! Congratulations learners!
The WAMS and WASHS Envirothon Teams were among 100 learners from Franklin and Fulton counties at the Franklin County Envirothon competition yesterday at Cowans Gap. Our WAMS team came in second and our WASHS teams came in second and fourth. We are especially proud of the compliments received from the county coordinators on the respectful, positive behavior of our learners. In the first WASD photo from left to right:

The end of the junior year of high school is a very exciting and important time! If you are thinking about going to college, this session is a great way for members of the Class of 2023 and their families to get a head start on the college application process. Guardians and learners are all invited to join us on Tuesday, May 10th @ 6:30pm to discuss the application process, college visits, financial aid, and more! This event will be held in the Balcony, please enter the building through the main entrance on B-level. We hope to see you there!
Our vocal music director, Mr. Andrew Vensel, was selected to present a session at the PA Music Educators Association Conference last week. He and co-presenters, Jodi Jianniney of Garnet Valley SD and Angela Guerriero of West Chester University, shared "Music for Exceptional Learners: Including Everyone in the Music Classroom." We thank Mr. Vensel for advocating for ways to include all learners in music education!
