Hello families of the Class of 2024!

Final reminders about graduation can be found in this email and also on THIS page of the WASHS website.

Graduation is Friday, May 31, 2024 at 6:30 pm at Buchanan Auto Stadium

Baccalaureate is tonight, Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 6:30 pm in the auditorium (graduates should wear their caps & gowns)

Please review this full email before contacting the office with questions. Note that office staff will NOT be available Friday morning before 10:30 am due to an all-district meeting.

TICKETS

  • Were distributed to graduates this week. 

  • Blue or yellow tickets will gain entry to the stadium. Limited seating is available in the auditorium where the live feed will be shown (use either color ticket to enter).

  • White tickets were distributed to those who requested handicapped seating. Handicapped seating will be in a row of chairs on the track, against the fence. The rest of your party will sit in the bleachers. 

  • Infants and small children who will be seated on the lap of an adult do NOT need a ticket; any child who will have their own seat will need a ticket.

    Elementary, and Clayton Avenue and anywhere along the Borough Streets near the high school.

  • If parking at

    - please enter the via the D-wing entrance.

  • Please do not park in the grass.

  • Handicapped parking (must have placard) is available in the A-level Event Entrance parking lot and in the lower section of the back parking lot.

  • Vehicles may pull into the A-level Event Entrance to drop off attendees; no parking without a handicapped placard.

ENTRANCE

  • Graduates should enter the building by 5:45 pm via the upper back doors facing the stadium. Family members will not be permitted to use this entrance. 

  • Gates will open at 5:30 pm for attendees. 

PERSONAL ITEMS

  • Balloons may not be brought into the stadium.

  • Stadium seats and blankets are permitted.

  • We ask that you limit bags and purses to those that will comfortably fit on your lap or under your seat.

  • Food and drink are not permitted in the auditorium or gymnasium. Water is permitted and will also be on sale in the concession stand.

  • Please remember that state law prohibits the use of cigarettes, tobacco products, e-cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs on school property for ALL individuals. 

  • Per ADA guidelines and

    policy, registered service animals, limited to dogs, are permitted; emotional support animals are not permitted. If you are bringing a service dog, please contact our building secretary (

DRESS EXPECTATIONS FOR GRADUATES:

  • Sneakers are NOT permitted

  • Caps must be PLAIN - no decorations

  • Those wearing a blue gown:

    • Dress pants

    • Collared shirt

    • Necktie or bow tie (we have extra if needed)

    • Dress Shoes - no sneakers or work boots

  • Those wearing a white gown:

    • Dress or skirt/blouse or pants/blouse - we suggest a light color due to the gown being white

  • Dress shoes - flats, wedges, block heels. No sneakers or stiletto-type heels.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • The Commencement Group will be set up at the gate to distribute pre-ordered items and also sell flowers and other graduation memorabilia. Only Credit Card Payments will be accepted on site.​

  • Following the ceremony graduates will process from the stadium to the cafeteria to pick up their final paperwork and diploma. After picking up their paperwork, graduates may leave to meet their family. Please coordinate an outside location to meet your graduate ahead of time - family and friends may not enter the high school with their graduate.

The seniors did an AMAZING job at practice the past three days - thank you for your assistance as getting 325 excited teenagers doing various tasks at the same time is not an easy task!
