Good afternoon Summitview families, a few reminders as we begin the month of October.
1. Fall parent/teacher conferences will be held as follows:
- •Wednesday, October 7 from 4-7:00 pm
- •Thursday, October 8 from 4-8:00 pm
- •Friday, October 9 from 8:00 am – 3:30 pm.
If you signed up through MyConferenceTime, you will receive a reminder email 48 hours before your scheduled conference. This reminder will include a Google Meet link that you will copy/paste into an internet browser in order to participate in your child’s conference. Some teachers will be sending home paperwork that will be reviewed during the virtual conference so please have those papers ready to go when you open Google Meet. Please email your child’s teacher if you would like their Chromebook sent home for your parent conference.
2. There will be no school for learners and staff on Monday, October 12. There will not be an elementary track meet that day. We are hoping to reschedule this event in the spring.
3. We will be kicking off Project TEAM the week of October 19 for the year with a series of Spirit Days. Each afternoon our learners will be introduced to one of the Teamology characters. If you are looking for dinner table conversation topics, ask your child how they acted like one of the characters at school that day! Also, Summitview will join schools across the country in celebrating Red Ribbon week beginning Monday, October 26. We will again have a series of spirit days to help encourage learners to live healthy, drug-free lifestyles.

4. Our spirit days will conclude on Friday, October 30, which will be “Say Boo to Drugs day.” Learners may wear a costume to school. Learners will wear their costume all day, including at recess, so please keep that in mind when choosing a costume. Make sure it is comfortable for your child to wear all day and make sure he/she can take the costume on and off without assistance to use the restroom. Scary costumes, costume accessories that look like weapons, face paint, and costume masks are not permitted. Learners will need to wear a face covering as they do on other days.
5. WASD COVID protocols prevent us from having parent/guardian volunteers assist in fall parties. However, we will have parties in a modified form. We are therefore looking for families to make donations for parties. Needed items include drinks, snacks, and craft supplies. A link for a Sign Up Genius to send in supplies will be emailed out next week.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a good evening and stay #BoroStrong!
