We are TWO WEEKS IN to our first ever Read-a-Thon at Fairview! In conjunction with our PTO and community, our staff and learners are working to read 500,000 minutes from Monday, April 19th through Friday, May 21.
Current standings: 112, 996 minutes read towards our goal of 500,000 minutes by May 21st
- Classrooms: Mitchell with 12, 118 minutes(1st), Duesler with 11, 150 minutes (2nd), Bonilla 10, 253 minutes (3rd)
- Grade Levels: K with 28, 961 minutes (1st), 2nd with 25,706 minutes (2nd), and 1st with 17,533 minutes (3rd)
- Houses: Philo's House with 23,010 minutes (1st), Ruby's House with 21,486 minutes (2nd), and Amelia's House with 18,259 minutes (3rd)
If we are going to reach this lofty goal and show our learners how important reading is and how much everyone in our community values reading, we need YOUR help! You can help in TWO big ways:
- Read on your own and add your minutes read to our school wide total minutes AND to help the House of your choice. So far, the community has donated over 5000 minutes to help us reach our goal. It's EASY to tell us how many minutes you have read and donate those minutes to a specific house of your choice.
Every learner and staff member at Fairview is in one of our six TEAMology Houses - Helping Others, Anti-Bullying, Positive Change, Problem Solving, Resiliency, and Leadership. Every foundation is equally important to help our learners succeed and grow, but they all belong to one house and are rooting for their house to win. You can ask your favorite Falcon which house they belong to OR just choose one on your own by selecting the house on the attached Google Form. The winning house will be earning an ice cream reward at lunch, so choose wisely! Then, simply enter the number of minutes you read in NUMBER form on question #2. We encourage you to let your favorite Falcon "catch" you reading so they are encouraged to read too! Oh, and you can donate minutes read as often as you like, so try to read several times a week if you can! Philo's House of Problem Solving has currently gained the most support from the community. Can you help a different house close the gap?
- Donate money towards our school wide goal and help our PTO help our learners with things like House t-shirts, playground equipment, and more!
When you click on the attached Google Form, there is a link to donate directly through the Read-a-Thon website right from your phone or other electronic device. We have raised almost $6000 so far and would LOVE to reach $10,000 from this fundraiser while supporting literacy. Can you help?
